Martha and Graham's Visit!

On Monday night we picked up Martha and Graham from the airport. On Tuesday Donovan had work so I took Martha and Graham to the Hellfire Caves and the town of West Wycombe (little crappy town next to the caves). We ate lunch at the oldest garden shop in Britain (all garden shops in England have cafes) next to the caves. Here are some pics:

Martha and Graham took pics of all their meals:

At the pub that afternoon drinking beer and eating Nobbly Bobblys (best ice cream ever):

Hanging out that night:

The next day poor Donovan had work again but we were able to hitch a ride with him to Barking station (which is just a tube ride away from central London). Then I took Martha and Graham around London for the day and amazed myself how I actually knew where to go! Martha saw someone at Buckingham Palace that was on her flight from Newark--wierd!

This guy is made from plastic bottles:

I thought his head would pop up if you gave him money...unfortunately all you get is a thumbs up:

Out to dinner at the Mowchak that night for some great Indian food:

The next day we all jumped in the car and were off to Stonehenge. What an interesting place! I urge you to click on the link to learn more if you don't already know about it...

After Stonehenge, we headed to Bath (Canterbury Tales, anyone?), a Roman town. We had a late lunch in a Romanesque restaurant and wandered around the town.

Was Donnie Darko's "Frank" inspired by Bath?

A giant map!

The next day we went to Oxford. It was a cool city that of course included the famous Oxford University. Did you know Oxford was named because they used Ox bones mixed with cement to pave the roads? I didn't know either but learned it from the museum. Also the guy who wrote "Alice in Wonderland" and the author who wrote "Lord of the Rings" was from Oxford, among many other famous people.

We ran to ASDA (the supermarket) afterward and got ingredients to make brie, tomato and bacon sandwiches on baguettes. YUMMY! After dinner we watched the athletics and tried to get an early night. Has anyone in the States actually been watching the Athletics? I love when a South African runs because Donovan flips out. He stands up and screams, "Go my girl! Go my baby! Go ya Beaut! C'mon!" It's pretty funny. And has anyone been keeping up with the story on Caster Semenya? She is a South African who won a gold medal in the 800 but is now being questioned if she is really a woman...click on her name and make your own judgements... She looks very masculine but if she is a woman (which I think she is), it must be pretty humiliating...

This morning around 6:30am we dropped Martha and Graham off at the airport. They are on their way to Spain and will arrive back next Friday for a night. Tonight I am working at the pub as well as tomorrow. Then babysitting all week long!

Cheers!
