Manchester and Liverpool

Hopefully you've had a chance to catch yourself up on Nat's adventures...and his "out of the box" sense of humor so that you may more thoroughly understand his upcoming blog post. But before he posts about our little Eurotrip, I'd like to put up a quick post about Manchester and Liverpool, two destinations in England that I visited before we took off to the other European nations...

This is a bit late but it's only fair to give Liverpool it's own proper blog post before the Eurotrip stuff. So two Mondays ago we left for Manchester. I had researched that there was a huge mall 5 minutes from where Donovan was working so he dropped me off there before work. And "huge mall" was an understatement! Over 200 stores and the biggest foodcourt in all of Europe! I knew I had plenty to keep me busy until 5! So I started by seeing the matinee of "My Sister's Keeper" AKA saddest movie ever! I seriously cried the whole time. It was good but I don't recommend it unless you really want to be sad for some reason. Anywho, afterward I began strolling through all the shops and got a call from Donovan that he got off early so we headed to our bed and breakfast in Liverpool. Although the bed and breakfast was not the nicest, Liverpool was awesome!

Donovan left for work about 9am and I hopped a taxi into the main part of the city. I went on a duck tour (you know those buses that go into the water) and went to a museum. The museum was so awesome (and free!) and included an exhibit on gay sailors throughout the century, the Titanic (which was registered in Liverpool), slavery, and imports/exports. I went to the Official Beatles Store and Primark (an awesome UK store that has such cheap clothes! I got a shirt for 1 pound and 3/4 length khakis for 5 pounds!). When Donovan called to pick me up, I wasn't even bored yet! But once he got off work we still had a 4 hour drive home so off we went...

Here are some pics:

Liverpool:

This used to be a castle (where the water is used to be the walls):

Liverpool was the European capital of culture in 2008!:

Inside the museum (this is canibus wrapped in plastic that someone swallowed to try and smuggle them into the UK...):

This is the scan that caught them!

Biggest whatever it is outside of China/Japan/some Southeast Asian country:

You can't really see but this is the "Hard Day's Night Hotel" which has statues of all 4 of the Beatles on the perimeter:

Some fake smuggled goods in the museum (as I carry my fake Chanel bag...):

The duck tour (pic taken as reflection in a building):

From the gay sailor exhibit (caption: "Toto I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore..." haha!):

Nat arrived from Dublin Tuesday night and the next day we went into London city. This and the rest of our Euro adventures will be blogged about next. His blog will be here and my blog will be here: http://germanytotheballs.blogspot.com/

Cheers everyone!
